Top 10 Things To Do In Jamaica

Recommended to watch the video, as this is just the video script. Hope you Enjoy!

Hey guys, Andy from Bucket List Freak here, Hope you’re having a great Monday because today I’m gonna take you on a journey to Jamaica. The third largest island in the Caribbean, Jamaica has a lush landscape of hills, valleys, rivers and the misty Blue Mountains which provide and abundance of outdoor adventures and activities.

There are a variety of holiday resorts too: lively Montego Bay, whose ‘hip strip’ buzzes with shops, restaurants, clubs and Colonial houses; Negril, a laid-back favourite with families and honeymooners, Port Antonio, a favourite with the jet set and Hollywood’s rich and famous, and on the south coast bustling Kingston, the capital, and the crocodile-filled Black River. Here are the top 10 things to do in Jamaica.

10. Climb Dunns River Falls at Ocho Rios

Climbing the thundering Dunns River Falls at Ocho Rios has become a rite of passage for visitors to Jamaica. Clambering over smooth, often slippery rocks is great fun for even the least athletic tourist.

It is best to hire a guide because they know the safest routes to take.

They can also point out the best swimming spots, rock pools and the safest places to plunge down icy cascades, where exhilarating blasts of ice-cold spring water provide welcome relief from the heat.

The most photographed attraction in Jamaica, the ascent offers a hint of adventure and a cool break from the sun. Relax on Dunns River beach afterward and enjoy the cold river currents which alternate with the warm Caribbean Sea.

9. Go rafting on the Martha Brae

Relax on a bamboo raft and enjoy a day or half-day cruising down the Martha Brae River near Montego Bay. There are evening trips too. Stop for a swim and enjoy gorgeous lush scenery and wildlife all around. There are lots of organised excursions to choose from.

8. Cycle Down The Tropical Blue Mountains Without Pedalling

Enjoy a downhill bicycle tour down the beautiful mountains without even pedaling. While coasting down the mountainside, be prepared to be wowed by the beautiful rainforest, Blue Mountain coffee plantations, cascading waterfalls, chocolate, banana and plantation orchards.

7. Go bird watching

The striking Bluefield Mountains, an hour’s drive from Negril, are home to more than 250 bird species, including the national bird, the streamer-tailed Hummingbird. The sound of birds fills the air and brightly colored butterflies are seen at every turn. There are views over Bluefields Bay, where the coral reef is set in aquamarine and turquoise seas.

6. Swim with Dolphins and Sharks at Dolphin Cove

Swim with bottlenose dolphins and even sharks at Treasure Reef near Dunns River Falls. Plus there is swimming with stingrays, boats, and kayaks to paddle and the chance to become a dolphin trainer for the day. The kids will love it.

5. Play Golf

There are several world-class championship golf courses to play particularly around Montego Bay on the north coast.

4. Dig Out Bob Marley’s Reggae Roots

Discover the island’s reggae roots on a Bob Marley bus tour around the island, visiting the legend’s studio, house, museum, and recording studio where it is possible to burn a reggae track.

3. Go Ghost Hunting at Rose Hall

Visit Rose Halls Great House, where the ghost of white witch Annie Palmer, is said to still haunt the great house today.

2. Bag a Bargain

Enjoy colorful markets and duty-free shopping particularly in Ocho Rios, where the cruise ships dock. Beware the vendors in the Ocho Rios market though who can be over exuberant and quite aggressive.

1. Feast on Jerk Chicken and Ackee

Food in Jamaica is an adventure in itself. Worth trying, once at least, are the curried goat, jerk chicken and pork, peppered shrimp, peas and rice, rich and spicy pepper-pot soup and ackee, Jamaica’s national dish. This bright yellow fruit resembles scrambled egg when cooked and is served with salt fish.

Jamaica is a beautiful place, and personally, I would go on the Bob Marley bus tour. It seems like a good time, and his music and history means a lot to me. But tell me what you wanna do the most in the comments down below. Alright guys, hope you really enjoyed this video, i’ll be publishing a video every Monday, so when you’re back at work starting yet another hectic workweek you can relax and travel into my videos. Alright guys, hope you found something to add to your bucket list, and as always, Safe Travels
