Hey guys, Andy From Bucket list freak here, and today we’re gonna talk about Tahiti, with it’s lush green landscape and turquoise sea, it’s the largest island in The French Polynesia. This idyllic island paradise is often chosen as a honeymoon destination. It offers many areas to explore and activities to enjoy while visiting. Soak in the beauty of the tropical rainforest, hike through emerald green valleys or snorkel in the crystal-clear water amongst the colorful reef fish. Here are The Top 5 Things to do in Tahiti.
5. Enjoy the Water
Tahiti’s tropical ocean water is remarkably beautiful and inviting. For those who love surfing, snorkeling and diving there is much to see and do. Serious surfers can take a boat trip to one of the many quality surf spots Tahiti has to offer.
Boat charters can also be taken for those who want to snorkel or dive in the crystal-clear water teaming with colorful sea-life. Many beaches in Tahiti feature calm lagoons for beginners that are perfect for those who are just learning how to snorkel. Scuba divers can take their pick from a number of established dive sites, including areas to dive that are around shipwrecks or near the aquarium.
For those who want to enjoy the water without getting in it, take a cruise on a catamaran or go deep sea fishing. Sailing lessons are another activity to do on the water instead of in it.
4. Relax on the Beach
Tahiti’s beaches have a laid back charm, and there are many great places to relax and soak in the sun. Venus Point Beach, a peninsula of black sand and warm water, is definitely one of the beaches not to be missed. For those who prefer white sand beaches, a good place to go is Plage de Toaroto, a half-mile long white sand beach which is rich in marine life.
3. Sightsee Landmarks
Some of the landmarks worth seeing on Tahiti are located near a lovely black sand beach known as Point Venus, a historic site, where Captain Cook first landed on the island and set up his headquarters. The Point Venus Lighthouse is the largest landmark to observe there among the shade trees in this park-like setting. Other monuments, such as the Bounty Monument, is something you should take the time to visit.
2. Swim in a Waterfall
Nothing is quite as spectacular as Tahiti’s tropical waterfalls. Fautaua, in particular, is one of the world’s tallest waterfalls. Watch 980 feet of water cascade down the volcanic cliffside and then take a swim in the natural pool below for the ultimate tropical experience.
1. Papeete Market
Tahiti’s market in Papeete, also known as “Le Marche”, is the place to go for souvenirs of all kinds. This market has the widest selection of arts and crafts, t-shirts, and sarongs available on the island. The marketplace also offers local produce, fresh fish, colorful flower arrangements and traditional Tahitian foods. It is located near Francois Cardella and Colette Streets and is open from 5am-6pm daily.
Whether sightseeing, relaxing or looking for adventure, there are activities to do on Tahiti that will suit anyone. Kayaking, windsurfing, and shopping for black pearls are a few more ways to enjoy all that Tahiti has to offer.
